Rolling Alone News and Updates
Upcoming projects, time management and solo play

Just a brief post today to update all you good people on my thoughts on future projects and what is coming soon for Rolling Alone
Podcast News
I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating that I’m incredibly grateful for the response to the launch of The Rolling Alone Podcast. As of today (Saturday lunchtime, UK Time), it has racked up an astonishing 1281 downloads, which is honestly about 1000 more than I expected!
And the bonus is that the reaction appears to have been pretty much uniformly positive, which isn’t something one can take for granted in today’s fevered and often brutal Internet landscape.
I’m currently editing Episode 2 for release on Friday, May 22nd. I’ll keep my powder dry for now about the contents, and make an announcement about that early next week—suffice it to say, I think you’ll enjoy the guests I have “in the can” for Episode 2
Remember: if you have any suggestions or ideas for future guests or content (or if you’d like to be on the show yourself), feel free to reach out either through the Substack Chat or the dedicated email address of rollingalonepodcast@gmail.com
Balancing Podcast and Writing
The successful launch of the podcast inevitably means a bit of a re-think about written content here on the old Substack.
There are only so many hours in the day…
So, I’ve decided to place The Weekend One Shot and The Three-Act Play on hiatus for the time being.

The mental overhead of constantly learning new games and systems has got a little overwhelming since I started recording, editing, and managing the podcast, and it feels like something has to give!
Tomorrow, (Sunday, May 17th), I’ll be covering A Cup of Temporal Soup by Tacky Nowacki in the last Weekend One-Shot for the time being since I promised him I’d cover his game.
It’s been a blast playing it, so look out for that overview tomorrow.
Rather than jumping around from game to game, I thought I’d focus on playing and writing about ONE game for the next few months, at least until the podcast settles down—which leads me to my next subheading
The Next Campaign (Poll Results)
Thanks to the 100+ people who participated in the recent poll to determine my next game. The One Ring edged out Ker Nethelas by a single percentage point.
I noticed to my horror that somehow I’d voted for The One Ring somewhere along the process of checking the results.
I hadn’t meant to vote in the poll!
Remove that inadvertent vote from the reckoning, and the result was actually a tie!
This means that the next two games for me to play in-depth will be The One Ring and Ker Nethalas, whilst Ironsworn: Starforged will go back onto the shelf for the foreseeable future.
Most of the comments on my post were making the case for the Blackoath behemoth, and I already have an inkling about the rules (I’ve read the Quickstart Rules), whereas I don’t know anything about Free League’s epic.
So I have taken an executive decision, and the first campaign out of the gate will be Ker Nethalas. I’ll start with a One Ring campaign later in the summer.
Thanks to everyone for voting and (especially) commenting!
UK Games Expo
The final bit of news is that I’m going to the UK Games Expo for two days right at the end of this month.
I’ll make sure to pick up The One Ring from the Modiphius stand 😇
If any Rolling Alone people are there on Friday or Saturday and fancy a coffee and a natter, please reach out. I’ll have my pocket-sized digital recorder with me to record podcast content, and I've already lined up an interview about Worldbuilding with Angeline Trevena —but I’d love to record more content if I can!
OK, that’s enough rambling from me. Look out for the One Shot tomorrow, the start of my Ker Nethelas campaign later in the week and, of course, Episode 2 of The Rolling Alone Podcast on Friday.

Hell yeah, looking forward to the Ker Nethalas campaign! and just in time, since the revamped Book of Masteries is out!
I voted for the One Ring only because I’ve not come across any solo content so I was curious. But I’ve head many good things about Ker Nathalas and am excited for both! Also, the podcast is great! Glad you had such a good launch! I think the bite size format is what definitely helps distinguish it from other podcasts.
